Yoshiaki Mikami is 55 years old. As his daughter leaves the nest to look for work in the city, he begins to realize his own old age, which makes him think of his late father. Yoshiaki's father, Yoshio, suddenly died all alone 23 years ago. Yoshiaki was living his own life as a contract worker when he was faced with this major ordeal. As Yoshiaki laid his father to rest, all sorts of thoughts bounced around his head. Osamu Yamamoto, a master of human drama, spins a yarn about human mortality and the bonds between parent and child.
