Protagonist Sonogi Akihiro is a second-term member of the House of Representatives from the Kyoto district, representing the centrist Democratic People’s Party. He won votes with his looks and youth, helping the ruling coalition secure a majority in the House of Councillors. In late April, as Golden Week approached, a large-scale car explosion occurred at Shibuya’s scramble crossing. Based on the nature of the blast, Prime Minister Sanjo and the Japanese government judged it to be a terrorist attack and established an anti-terrorism task force. With the International Athlete Festival (IAF) scheduled for August 2020, and with neither the perpetrator nor the motive known, the government was forced to hurriedly implement additional counterterrorism measures. And so, in the wake of this incident, Sonogi was compelled to take action.
